Gina Murray creates sculpture in stone, wood and glass to express her artistic vision. With the first blow of the hammer, she knew she had discovered her life's passion. During an apprenticeship with a European master carver in New York, she developed her skill and technique to the strong, sensuous style present in her creations. She studied glass casting and fusing while living in the Pacific Northwest, a haven for glass artists, and is fascinated by this ancient and mysterious medium.
Outside of her fine arts sculpture, Gina also creates functional glass home decor. Glass is a fun and exciting medium that gives me the opportunity to play with color, form and functional ideas. The mystery of glass is that it defies chemical classifications in that it is not a true liquid or a true solid. Each piece is uniquely created by cutting, layering and kiln firing hand rolled glass sheets of clear and colored glass. Plates are food and dishwasher safe.
